Preparing students to thrive in a complex world

In a world where rapid change is all around us, we must continuously ask what we want William & Mary’s future to look like. A clear strategic vision, grounded in a disciplined exploration of new ideas, is critical as William & Mary pushes the boundaries of core excellence and capitalizes on strengths.

Now more than ever before we must be innovative and agile in our approach. This means collaborating with others in new ways to realize a vision in which we can build an ever-greater academic enterprise. It means creating new partnerships and establishing new programs and initiatives that enable us to be innovative while staying true to our mission. It means greatly investing in emerging areas to keep pace with rapid change.

Private support is absolutely essential for us to advance a high-caliber, high-engagement educational experience that prepares students to thrive in our complex world today and tomorrow. We must provide an educational experience that helps tomorrow's leaders navigate paths that have not been forged, solve problems that have not yet been defined and compete for any job, even those that do not yet exist.

Private support will enable William & Mary to:

  • Deliver a distinct educational experience that inspires creativity, flexibility and forward thinking
    • Advance primary research with real-world applications
    • Develop innovative curriculums that explore intersections between disciplines
    • Fuel a rigorous academic program that connects qualitative and quantitative reasoning
  • Foster an environment that respects and embraces diverse perspectives
    • Build a vibrant community where civil discourse flourishes
    • Expand robust study abroad and international educational opportunities
    • Increase engaged learning experiences outside of the classroom
  • Bring exceptional faculty, staff and coaches together with the most talented students
    • Encourage close faculty-student interaction and collaboration
    • Celebrate faculty mentors who encourage students to reach their full potential
    • Cultivate an inclusive community comprised of diverse citizens who do remarkable things for the common good
