Capital Projects

William & Mary relies on your support to help advance priorities and initiatives that benefit our students, faculty, alumni and programs. Below are some of the physical enhancement projects that you can support on campus. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of so many in our Tribe family!

  • Alumni House Family Courtyard
    Create a legacy at the Alumni House for all time coming, a beautiful hardscaped courtyard at the front of the historic Bright House features plaques honoring multigenerational William & Mary families and affinity groups with deep ties to the university.
  • Arts Quarter
    The new Arts Quarter will position William & Mary as a state-of-the-art hub for regional performing arts. This 180,000-square-foot project features a modernized and expanded Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall, a new music building, six high-quality performance venues and 1,500 audience seats for a broad array of offerings.
  • Gates Hall
    Gates Hall and will serve as a hub for research and teaching that spans disciplines, addressing global challenges such as economic development and inequality, geopolitical conflict, national security and conservation. Gates Hall will be home to the Global Research Institute, the Institute for Integrative Conservation and the Whole of Government Center of Excellence.
  • Legacy Tribute Garden
    To honor the first three African-American residential students at William & Mary, and those that came before them, the university committed land adjacent to Jefferson Hall to create a Legacy Tribute Garden.
  • Muscarelle Museum of Art
    The addition of more than 42,000 square feet will triple the current museum building and expand the galleries of art and increase opportunities for research, teaching, studying and public events.
  • National Pan-Hellenic Council Garden (NPHC)
    The creation of the NPHC Garden raises the visibility of historically Black fraternities and sororities at William & Mary and celebrates their contributions to our campus community — past, present and future.
  • W&M Athletics Complex
    The university’s plans for a $67-million reimagined William & Mary Athletics Complex encompass a renovated Kaplan Arena, a new Sports Performance Center adjacent to the arena, the Mackesy Tennis Center, Busch Field and the Tribe Field Hockey Center.
  • Williamsburg Bray School
    William & Mary is partnering with The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation to research and restore the recently discovered Williamsburg Bray School, likely the oldest existing schoolhouse for African Americans in the United States.
